Pioneering Academic Reshapes Sustainable Fashion Education and Industry Practices
Francesca Romana Rinaldi is a distinguished academic and sustainability expert serving as the Director of the Monitor for Circular Fashion and core faculty member at SDA Bocconi School of Management. Her significant contributions to sustainable fashion are evident through her authored works, including "Fashion Industry 2030" (2019), "L'Impresa Moda Responsabile" (2013, 2022), "The Responsible Fashion Company" (2014), and the forthcoming "Circular Fashion Management" (2024). At SDA Bocconi, she leads crucial courses including "Managing Sustainability in Fashion" at MAFED and "Fashion Collections and Sustainability" at Bocconi University. Her expertise extends beyond academia into executive consulting, where she advises companies and institutions on sustainability, circularity, traceability, transparency, and business model innovation. Her notable consulting projects include significant work with UNECE on enhancing transparency in the garment and footwear industry, and collaboration with the European Commission DG GROW on the Textiles Transition Pathway Co-creation Strategy. Laura Baruffaldi: Leadership and Organizational Development Expert at SDA Bocconi
Laura Baruffaldi has established herself as a distinguished SDA Lecturer in Leadership at SDA Bocconi School of Management since 2018, where she specializes in leadership development, stress management, communication, assertiveness, and age diversity within organizations. Her research and teaching methodology centers on four crucial areas: self-leadership development, intergenerational value creation through age diversity, work-life integration competencies, and fostering creative leadership for innovation and change management. Her academic contributions include authoring "Leading Millennials," a comprehensive guide to building successful intergenerational collaborations in organizations, and presenting research on work-family enrichment at the 2018 Academy of Management Annual Meeting. With a PhD in Organizational Behavior from IE Business School (Madrid) and a background in Marketing Management from Università Bocconi, she brings both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise to her role as a professor in the Management and Technology Department at Università Bocconi, where she leads the undergraduate course "Leadership Skills" and previously conducted research on sustainability topics from 2010 to 2012.
