Dr. S.V. Mahadevan is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine, where he has held various leadership roles, including ED Medical Director and Associate Chief from 2000 to 2012, and founding chair of the Department of Emergency Medicine from 2015 to 2017. Currently, he serves as the Director of Global Affairs and Strategy for Stanford Medicine and Stanford Health Care, as well as the Director of South Asia Outreach at the Center for Asian Health Research and Education (CARE). With a prolific academic career, Dr. Mahadevan has delivered over 500 invited lectures globally and authored more than 150 journal articles and book chapters. He is the lead editor of the award-winning textbook An Introduction to Clinical Emergency Medicine. Dr. Mahadevan founded Stanford Emergency Medicine International (SEMI) and has played a crucial role in establishing emergency medical training programs in various countries, including India and Nepal. He teaches courses on COVID-19 training for healthcare workers in multiple languages, aiming to enhance global health responses to the pandemic.
