His distinguished career includes serving as past president of the Headache Cooperative of the Pacific and holding multiple board positions with organizations like the Alliance for Headache Diseases Advocacy. Dr. Cowan's research focuses on understanding chronic daily headache mechanisms, supported by grants from the NIH and various foundations. He has authored over 200 publications, including the book "The Keeler Migraine Method," and regularly appears in major media outlets from the New York Times to network television. As an educator and mentor at Stanford's School of Medicine and the Center for Innovation in Global Health, he continues to shape the future of headache medicine while maintaining board certifications in neurology, pain medicine, and headache medicine.
