After completing his psychology studies at the University of Regensburg, he earned his doctorate in 1995 for his groundbreaking work with BMW Group on driver navigation information design. His industry experience includes leading the "Human Machine Interaction" team and managing the Usability Lab at BMW's Research & Development Department. At TUM, he focuses on micro ergonomics research, particularly investigating human-machine interactions in driver assistance systems, software ergonomics, and human-robot cooperation. His work has significantly influenced the development of ergonomic principles in technical systems, emphasizing safety, efficiency, and user satisfaction. As president of the German Ergonomics Society, he plays a crucial role in shaping discussions about workplace digitization and advancing human-machine interaction principles.
