Karen Abbott

Karen Abbott serves as Research Assistant in the School of Public Health's Ageing Research unit at Imperial College London, where she combines her expertise in clinical nutrition with dementia research. After earning master's degrees in Clinical Nutrition from Imperial College and Broadcasting from Goldsmith College, University of London, she built a diverse career spanning technical and health sciences. Her research background includes work on iodine nutrition at ETH Zurich, while her technical experience as a Systems Specialist Engineer for the BBC and work at Stanford's Instructional Television Network brings a unique systems-based approach to health research. Currently pursuing her PhD in nutrition and dementia at Imperial, she brings personal insight to her research through her experience supporting family members with dementia. Her expertise extends to sports nutrition, holding certification from the International Society of Sports Nutritionists, while maintaining a holistic approach to nutrition and health influenced by her cross-disciplinary background.
