Stanford UniversityJohn Armstrong served as a Lecturer and Fellow at Stanford University's Design Program from 2016 to 2022, where he specialized in teaching life design courses including "Designing Your Life," "Designing Your Stanford," and "Designing the Professional." During his tenure, he developed content for Stanford's pioneering life design curriculum, reaching over 25,000 learners through online and blended learning programs. Beyond Stanford, he taught at the d.school (Hasso Plattner Institute of Design), leading courses such as "Designing for Death," "Mindful Activism," and "Designing for Transitions." His impact extends globally through workshops and training programs for universities across the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia. Armstrong also served as a meditation guide for Calm, the meditation app, from 2017 to 2021, where he created content and led workshops on mindfulness and burnout prevention. Currently, as Principal of Leadership Labs, he designs and facilitates learning experiences for organizations including Spotify, Pinterest, Google, and Slack, focusing on design thinking, leadership development, and workplace learning.
