Robert J. Blake is a distinguished professor of Spanish linguistics at UC Davis and the director of the Davis Language Center. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas and has published extensively on topics including Old Spanish, Spanish syntax, applied linguistics, and computer-assisted language learning (CALL). His notable works include the second edition of Brave New Digital Classroom with Georgetown University Press and El español y la lingüística aplicada published in 2016. Blake served as the director of the University of California Language Consortium from 2000 to 2012 and developed an online first- and second-year Spanish course now part of UC's online offerings. In 2004, he became a member of the North American Academy of the Spanish Language, making him a corresponding member of the Royal Spanish Academy.
