Pioneering Nanotechnology Education at Stanford

Stanford UniversityDaniella Duran serves as the Education and Outreach Program Manager at nano@Stanford, where she leads educational initiatives for the NSF-funded National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure (NNCI) site. After earning her B.S. in Psychobiology from UCLA and M.S. in Education from Stanford, she has established herself as a key figure in nanotechnology education. Based at Stanford's Nanofabrication Facility, she works closely with facility staff to develop and implement comprehensive educational programs, including the Nanoscience Summer Institute for Middle School Teachers (NanoSIMST) which trains over 30 teachers annually in nanoscience education. Her responsibilities include managing community college internship programs, coordinating facility tours, developing web-based training materials, and organizing public engagement events such as NanoDays and the Bay Area Science Festival. As an experienced facilitator and curriculum designer, she oversees the creation of just-in-time educational resources that help users navigate sophisticated nanofabrication equipment and complex processes. Through her leadership, nano@Stanford continues to expand access to nanotechnology education and training across academic, industry, and public sectors.
