Peter S. Onuf is the Thomas Jefferson Memorial Foundation Professor of History, Emeritus, at the University of Virginia, where he has taught for over two decades. As a Senior Fellow at Monticello’s Robert H. Smith International Center for Jefferson Studies, Onuf is a leading expert on Thomas Jefferson and the early American republic. He is the author of Jefferson’s Empire: The Language of American Nationhood and The Mind of Thomas Jefferson. Professor Onuf is also the editor of Jeffersonian Legacies and co-host of Backstory with the American History Guys, a weekly public radio program and podcast. His course Age of Jefferson explores his area of expertise.
