Paul Resnick is the Michael D. Cohen Collegiate Professor of Information and Associate Dean for Research and Innovation at the University of Michigan's School of Information. He is recognized as a pioneer in the fields of recommender systems and reputation systems, significantly contributing to the development of the GroupLens system, which received the 2010 ACM Software Systems Award. Resnick co-authored the book "Building Successful Online Communities: Evidence-Based Social Design." He holds a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of Michigan and a doctorate in computer science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Additionally, he served as a part-time consultant for Facebook from May 2018 to May 2020.

Steve Oney is an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan School of Information, where his research focuses on creating tools that empower more individuals to write and customize computer programs. By addressing usability issues in programming environments, Oney aims to make programming more accessible. He completed his Ph.D. at Carnegie Mellon University's Human-Computer Interaction Institute, where he was advised by Brad Myers and Joel Brandt. Oney also holds undergraduate and master's degrees from MIT.
