Professor of International Law at the University of Geneva
Laurence Boisson de Chazournes has been a Professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Geneva since 1999, specializing in international law, international organizations, and environmental law. She has served as a Senior Advisor to the World Bank and has extensive experience advising states and international organizations, including the UN, WHO, and WTO. Dr. Boisson de Chazournes is an active member of various international legal bodies, including the Permanent Court of Arbitration and the Sports Court, and she participates in significant policy discussions as a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council Advisory Committee and the High-Level Panel on Water and Peace. Her academic contributions include numerous publications in leading law journals and books on topics such as dispute settlement and environmental governance. Notably, she was awarded the Elizabeth Haub Prize in Environmental Law in 2008 and received an honorary doctorate from Aix-Marseille University in 2014. Dr. Boisson de Chazournes is also recognized for her role in shaping international legal practices through her involvement in arbitration and litigation before international courts.

Makane Moïse Mbengue is an Associate Professor at the University of Geneva's Faculty of Law and the Institute of Environmental Sciences, as well as a visiting professor at Sciences Po Paris. He holds a PhD in Public International Law from the University of Geneva and has extensive experience as a legal advisor for various international organizations, including the World Bank, the International Labor Organization (ILO), and the World Health Organization (WHO). Dr. Mbengue specializes in international environmental law, international investment law, and water law, and he actively participates in arbitration proceedings and litigation before international courts, including the International Court of Justice. He is also involved in significant policy-making initiatives, such as serving as the Lead Expert for the African Union in drafting the Pan-African Investment Code. As President of the African Society of International Law since 2017, he contributes to advancing international legal scholarship and practice. Dr. Mbengue has authored numerous publications in his field and is recognized for his expertise in navigating complex legal frameworks related to international cooperation and resource management.
