Nieman-Berkman Fellow and Award-Winning Journalist Focused on Media Innovation
Annie Jieping Zhang is a Nieman-Berkman Fellow at Harvard for 2024 and an award-winning journalist, writer, and media entrepreneur based in Hong Kong and Taiwan. She founded Matters Lab, a decentralized Web3 social media platform, and Nowhere Bookstore, a network of bookstores serving the global Chinese-speaking community. Additionally, she co-founded and served as editor-in-chief of Initium Media, an online Chinese-language publication established in Hong Kong in 2015. Her previous experience includes roles as an editor at City Magazine, chief writer and executive editor-in-chief for iSun Affairs, and reporter for Asia Week. In recognition of her contributions to journalism, the Society of Publishers in Asia named her Journalist of the Year in 2010.
International Broadcasting Professional with Extensive Experience in Management and Cross-Cultural Engagement
Carlson Huang graduated from National Taiwan University with a degree in Foreign Languages and Literature. He has been involved in international broadcasting since 1996, gaining extensive experience as a reporter, program producer, and English program host. His career includes administrative and management roles, starting as section chief of foreign languages, then advancing to vice manager of the programming department at RTI, and ultimately becoming the manager of the international language division. Carlson is dedicated to promoting people-to-people contact and international exchanges, which has taken him to various countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, the South Pacific, Europe, and Russia, allowing him to connect with local broadcasters and audiences. He has also served multiple terms as a judge for the AIB Awards and has been elected for a third term as an executive committee member of the London-based Association of International Broadcasting (AIB) from 2024 to 2026.
