University of Alaska FairbanksZachary Cureton-Hazard serves as Instructional Designer at the University of Alaska Fairbanks Center for Teaching and Learning, where he manages the MILL (Making is Learning Lab) makerspace. His career combines seven years of experience teaching Science, Math, and STEAM in rural Alaska communities including Saint Mary's and Seward, with expertise in educational technology and maker education. At UAF, he oversees the MILL makerspace in Bunnell Building, which serves as a constructivist lab fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and technology-enabled learning. His work includes developing curriculum for the T3 Alliance program and coordinating with Upward Bound to support first-generation college students. A certified secondary science teacher with a bachelor's degree in chemistry, he brings practical classroom experience to faculty development and makerspace education. Beyond his professional roles, he maintains an active outdoor lifestyle in Fairbanks with his wife Kait and dog Johan, enjoying activities like biking and snowboarding while pursuing additional studies in computer science.
