Professor Yang-Hann Kim specializes in acoustics and noise/vibration, utilizing experimental approaches and digital signal processing to drive innovative research. His diverse projects encompass sound field visualization, noise source identification through array microphones, detection and estimation of moving noise sources, and active noise and vibration control. Recently recognized as a pioneer in sound visualization and manipulation, he focuses on creating targeted sound fields, private sound zones, and 3D listening environments. Joining KAIST as an Associate Professor in 1989, he previously served at the Korea Institute of Technology and was a research assistant at MIT while earning his Ph.D. in mechanical engineering. With over 100 published papers and numerous awards, including the Rossing Prize from the Acoustical Society of America, Professor Kim is also a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America and serves on various editorial boards, further solidifying his impact in the field of acoustics.
