Dr. Sanders, a faculty member at Georgia Tech since 1986, specializes in the physical metallurgy of aluminum alloys, with a focus on precipitation hardening. Previously, he was on the faculty at Purdue University and worked as a research scientist at Alcoa Technical Center and Georgia Tech's Mechanical Properties Research Laboratory. His research covers areas like phase transformations, corrosion, and fatigue in Al-Li alloys, with over 100 publications and 10 international conferences organized. Dr. Sanders is a Fellow of ASM and a past Fulbright Research Fellow. He has taught over 1,000 students, continually innovating his materials science courses, including through Coursera.
