Seoul National UniversityDr. Sung-Pil Hong, a distinguished Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Seoul National University, has established himself as a leading authority in optimization theory and its applications. After earning his Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research from UC Berkeley, where he specialized in convex quadratic programming, he has dedicated his career to advancing the field of optimization and operations research. Since joining SNU in 2006, following his tenure at Chung-Ang University and a visiting professorship at the University of Waterloo, Hong has contributed significantly to areas including polynomial optimization, conic relaxation of combinatorial optimization, and network analysis. As the editor-in-chief of the International Journal of Management Science and through his course "Introduction to Optimization," he continues to shape the next generation of industrial engineers while advancing theoretical and practical applications in optimization theory
