Stephen Davis

Stephen Davis has served as Professor of Mathematics and Computer Science at Davidson College since 1981, including chairing the department from 1998 to 2003. His significant contributions to mathematics education include co-authoring a widely-used calculus textbook "Calculus: Early Transcendentals" with Howard Anton and Irl Bivens. His dedication to mathematics education extends beyond the classroom through his leadership in the Charlotte Mathematics Club since 1996, where he provides enrichment opportunities for talented middle and high school students. His expertise in calculus education is evidenced by his extensive involvement with the AP® Calculus program, including serving as Development Committee chair (2007-2011) and Chief Reader (starting 2015). He also contributes to mathematics education through his involvement with the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the College Board Advanced Placement Program for Calculus.
