Dr. Sharon M. Donovan is a distinguished nutrition expert, holding the Melissa M. Noel Endowed Chair in Nutrition and Health at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She earned her B.S. and Ph.D. in Nutrition from the University of California, Davis, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology at Stanford University School of Medicine. Since joining the faculty at UIUC in 1991, she has been recognized for her excellence in teaching and research, with over 225 peer-reviewed publications and significant grant support from institutions such as the NIH and USDA. Dr. Donovan's research focuses on pediatric nutrition, particularly the optimization of intestinal and cognitive development in neonates, as well as addressing childhood obesity. She has served as President of both the American Society for Nutrition and the International Society for Research on Human Milk and Lactation, and was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2017.
