Prof. Seungbum Hong graduated summa cum laude from KAIST with a B.S. in 1994 and earned his Ph.D. in nanoscale observation of ferroelectric thin films in 2000. After postdoctoral research at EPFL in Switzerland, he led the probe storage project at Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology. From 2007 to 2017, he served as a principal investigator at Argonne National Laboratory, focusing on local domain and transport studies of oxide heterostructures and polymer ferroelectrics. Prof. Hong returned to KAIST in 2017, became a full professor in 2021, and currently serves as the head of the Department of Materials Science and Engineering. With extensive experience linking fundamental science to industrial applications, he has authored 160 peer-reviewed journal papers, edited five books, and holds 79 patents. Recognized for his contributions, Prof. Hong has received numerous awards, including the Young Investigator Outstanding Achievement Award, and is actively involved in international collaborations and conference leadership roles.
