Scott Rixner

Dr. Scott Rixner is a Professor of Computer Science at Rice University, where he specializes in systems software and computer architecture. His research interests include virtualization, operating systems, and the development of lightweight Python interpreters for embedded systems. With a Ph.D. from MIT, Dr. Rixner has been instrumental in teaching a variety of introductory courses at Rice, such as Computational Thinking, Algorithmic Thinking, and Introduction to Computer Systems. He actively contributes to curriculum development as the chairman of the curriculum committees for both the Department of Computer Science and the School of Engineering.In addition to his teaching and research roles, Dr. Rixner has authored numerous publications and holds several patents related to memory systems and networking. He plays a significant role in leading online degree programs at Rice, including the MCS@Rice initiative.
