Dr. Robert McLeod is a distinguished Professor of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, where he also serves as the Director of the Materials Science and Engineering Program. He earned his BSEE in 1984 and MSEE in 1985 from Montana State University, followed by a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering in 1995 from CU Boulder, specializing in optical switching and computing. His extensive professional background includes research and management roles at notable institutions such as Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Siros Technologies, and JDS Uniphase, where he held the position of Director of Engineering.Dr. McLeod's research group focuses on the interaction of light with soft materials, with applications spanning nano-lithography, 3D printing, computational imaging, regenerative medicine, integrated optics, and high-performance optical elements. He is actively involved in scholarly publishing as a topical editor for the journal Optics Letters. In his teaching role, Dr. McLeod offers courses such as "Design of High-Performance Optical Systems," "First Order Optical System Design," and "Optical Efficiency and Resolution," equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the rapidly evolving field of optical engineering.
