Ramaswami Mahalingam

Ramaswami Mahalingam is a cultural psychologist and the Barger Leadership Institute Professor at the University of Michigan, where he focuses on fostering caring and compassionate workplaces that uphold dignity for all employees. His research examines dignity across various organizational contexts, including janitorial work, healthcare settings, gender and technology, and the experiences of crematorium workers. Dr. Mahalingam is dedicated to developing leaders who prioritize dignity and contribute to workplace well-being. He has published extensively, co-editing two significant books: Multicultural Curriculum and Cultural Psychology of Immigrants. He teaches a range of courses such as Mindfulness and Engaged Living, Mindful Leadership and Creativity, and Immigrant Psychology. In addition to his academic role, he actively engages in research across multiple countries, exploring the intersection of culture, dignity, and workplace dynamics. His contributions to psychology and education have been recognized with numerous awards for teaching and mentoring.
