Poonam Tewari

Poonam Tewari serves as Deputy General Manager and Senior Faculty at State Bank Institute of Credit & Risk Management in Gurugram, bringing three decades of comprehensive banking experience to her role. Her academic credentials include an M.Sc. and MBA, complemented by extensive practical experience across retail, SME, and international banking sectors. Throughout her career at SBI, she has held several key positions including Deputy General Manager (Financial Reporting & Taxation), Chief Operating Officer at SBI's Singapore Office, and Assistant General Manager (Administration). In her current role, she leads a team of eight faculty members while specializing in retail and SME lending, compliance, and risk management. Her expertise is demonstrated through her contributions to risk management education, including development of courses on banking risk assessment and management methodologies. As a senior banking professional, she combines her theoretical knowledge with practical experience to train the next generation of banking professionals, while maintaining her personal interest in reading and continuous learning.
