Dr. Petra Bonfert-Taylor is a distinguished Professor of Engineering and the Associate Dean for Diversity and Inclusion at the Thayer School of Engineering at Dartmouth College. She earned her Ph.D. in Mathematics from the Technical University of Berlin in 1996 and has since dedicated her career to both teaching and research, with a focus on complex analysis, geometric function theory, and engineering education. Before joining Dartmouth, she was a tenured professor at Wesleyan University, where she developed innovative courses such as Introduction to Complex Analysis. Dr. Bonfert-Taylor is passionate about broadening access to quality education and has received several accolades for her teaching excellence, including the Binswanger Prize for Excellence in Teaching and the NH High Tech Council Tech Teacher of the Year Award.
