Olivia Jensen

Olivia Jensen is Deputy Director and Lead Scientist at the LRF Institute for the Public Understanding of Risk (IPUR) at the National University of Singapore, where she specializes in water and environmental policy with a focus on urban Asia. Her expertise spans environmental risks, water security, and climate change risk perceptions, leading significant research including a global study of climate risk perceptions across 140 countries. Jensen's academic credentials include a PhD and MSc in Development from the London School of Economics and a BA in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from Oxford University. Her work involves partnerships with government agencies and international organizations like the World Bank, OECD, and UNEP, focusing on risk perceptions, water policy, and environmental regulation. As Lead Scientist overseeing IPUR's Environment and Climate research pillar since 2018 before her appointment as Deputy Director in 2023, she has authored numerous influential reports and academic papers on risk communications, water governance, and environmental policy. Jensen also serves as lead instructor for the Massive Open Online Course "Understanding and Communicating Risk" on the edX platform, combining her research expertise with educational outreach.
