Noel J. Bergman is a seasoned developer, consultant, mentor, and trainer with nearly 45 years of experience in the software development industry. With a strong focus on Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) for almost 40 years, Noel has made significant contributions to the field, including the creation of a real-time, embedded operating system in the 1980s and playing a pivotal role in developing NCR's commercial distributed object programming platform. In the 1990s, he helped shape the CORBA standard, coining the term "Remote Method Invocation" (RMI), and led a team that brought enterprise management to IBM's object-oriented desktop environment. An early adopter of Java, Noel co-authored one of the first JavaServer Pages (JSP) engines, contributed to the JSP and Portlet specifications, and has been a prominent contributor to Open Source projects in multiple languages. He also served as Vice President of the Apache Software Foundation Incubator for nearly a decade. Since the early 2000s, Noel has focused on empowering the next generation of software developers.
