Dr. Nicolai Jacob Wewer Albrechtsen is an Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen, where he earned his MD in 2014. His research focuses on gastrointestinal hormones, particularly glucagon biology, and he leads a scientific group investigating glucagon's role in dysmetabolic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) using advanced mass-spectrometry technologies. With a background in endocrinology, pathology, and clinical biochemistry, Dr. Wewer Albrechtsen has contributed to the identification and characterization of gut hormones and regulatory peptides. He has published over 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and received numerous awards for young researchers. Additionally, he completed a year-long program at Harvard Medical School (GCSRT certified) and has been teaching medical students since 2010. He offers courses such as "Diabetes - a Global Challenge," "Diabetes – the Essential Facts," and "Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease – The Essentials."
