Mo Smit

Mo Smit serves as an architect, graduation tutor, coordinator and researcher within the Chair of Architectural Engineering at TU Delft's Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment. Her expertise combines practical architectural experience with academic research, particularly focusing on circular neighborhood development and community engagement in design processes. Through her work as project architect for organizations including the Central Government Real Estate Agency, Hootsmans Architectuurbureau, and the Architekten Cie, she has developed extensive experience in sustainable architecture projects designed through cross-functional collaboration. Her current research emphasizes the integration of circular design principles to enhance both architectural and ecological quality in sustainable buildings and neighborhoods. She specializes in architectural circularity, sociocultural aspects of circularity, biological materials, urban metabolism, and the history of circularity. Her approach emphasizes the importance of community involvement in the design process, believing that circular design principles can significantly contribute to creating more sustainable and livable urban environments.
