Melanie Peffer

Dr. Melanie Peffer holds both a BS and PhD in molecular biology from the University of Pittsburgh and completed a postdoctoral appointment in learning sciences at Georgia State University. As a faculty member at the University of Colorado Boulder, she integrates her expertise in molecular biology and learning sciences to explore how individuals learn, understand, and engage with biological content. Dr. Peffer is particularly interested in utilizing educational technologies, such as simulations and serious games, to assess knowledge and beliefs about science. She recently published "Biology Everywhere: How the Science of Life Matters to Everyday Life," which highlights the applications of biology in everyday experiences. Her courses include "Biology Everywhere Foundations," "Designing Effective Science Communication," and "The Big Stuff: Evolution and Ecology."
