Tokyo Institute of TechnologyMartin Op 't Land is a prominent Dutch organizational theorist and enterprise engineering expert born in 1959. His academic journey began with a Propedeuse in Chemistry from Leiden University in 1979, followed by an MSc in Mathematics in 1984, and culminated in a PhD from Delft University of Technology in 2008 with research on enterprise architecture and organizational transformation. His professional career started at Volmac in 1985 (later acquired by Capgemini), where he rose to become a Principal Consultant and Certified Global Architect. Throughout his career, he has consulted major organizations including NATO, Air France KLM, and the European Patent Office. Currently serving as Professor of Enterprise Engineering at both the University of Antwerp and Antwerp Management School, he specializes in reshaping organizations during complex transformations such as splits, mergers, and alliances. His influential work includes the internationally recognized book "Enterprise Architecture - Creating Value by Informed Governance" published by Springer in 2009. As Editor of the Springer Enterprise Engineering Series and a key contributor to the field, he has helped develop both theoretical frameworks and practical applications in enterprise engineering, particularly focusing on organizational design and transformation strategies. His research continues to influence the understanding of how extended enterprises can be effectively reshaped and managed in response to organizational change.
