Valencia Polytechnic UniversityMaría Esther Gómez-Martín is a prominent figure in coastal engineering at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV), where she currently serves as Regional Secretary of Universities for the Valencian Government. Her research journey began at UPV's Ports and Coastal Laboratory in 2002, followed by eight years (2007-2015) as a professor at the University of Alicante's Civil Engineering Department before returning to UPV in 2015. Her significant contributions to coastal engineering include co-inventing the Cubipod®, an innovative breakwater armor unit protected by multiple international patents.
