Lisa Grey Whitaker

Lisa Grey Whitaker serves as a Senior Lecturer in Arizona State University's T. Denny Sanford School of Social and Family Dynamics, where she has taught sociology courses both online and in-person since 2001. Her academic credentials include a B.A. in Sociology from ASU (1974), followed by M.A. (1975) and Ph.D. (1979) degrees in Sociology from Stanford University. Her expertise spans social change, social interaction, criminology, and law, with a particular focus on preparing students for real-world success. Beyond teaching courses like Introductory Sociology and History of Social Thought, she has authored educational materials including the fourth edition of "Getting Started in Sociology." Her commitment to service extends beyond academia through her volunteer work with Flying Samaritans, providing medical and dental services to communities in Baja Sur, Mexico.
