Professor Larissa van den Herik is a distinguished academic at Leiden University, where she holds the position of Professor of Public International Law and serves as the program director of both the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies and the advanced LL.M. program on Public International Law, specializing in Peace, Justice, and Development as well as International Criminal Law. With a robust background in legal scholarship, she has previously acted as Editor-in-Chief of the Leiden Journal of International Law and currently serves as its general editor. Her extensive research focuses on critical areas such as international peace and security law, particularly regarding UN sanctions, terrorism, and the laws governing genocide and crimes against humanity.
