Dr. Ken English is the Deputy Director at the State University of New York, where he has made significant contributions to the field of Mechanical Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University at Buffalo in 2001, focusing his research on leveraging information technology and visualization to design and optimize complex, multidisciplinary systems. His industry experience spans various sectors, including implementing digital solutions for sales and operations in the food industry and improving business performance for small companies.As a co-director of the NSF Center for eDesign, Dr. English collaborates with multiple universities and over 35 corporate and governmental partners to align academic resources with industry needs, effectively bridging the gap between research and practical implementation. He co-developed the pioneering course "Information Technology in Engineering Design" in 2002, aimed at preparing engineering students for the transformative impact of information technology in their future workplaces. Dr. English believes in fostering a continuous learning environment, viewing himself as a coach who encourages students to cultivate curiosity and enthusiasm for their subjects, thus equipping them with skills for lifelong learning beyond the classroom.
