Katherine Hoops is an assistant professor of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, specializing in pediatric sepsis and pediatric trauma. She completed her residency in pediatrics at the University of Alabama Birmingham before joining Johns Hopkins for her fellowship in pediatric critical care medicine. Dr. Hoops' research focuses on preventing pediatric gun injuries, particularly exploring effective messaging to patients and families about firearms and improving physicians’ counseling on firearm safety. She is also engaged in innovative quality improvement projects, including the use of technology to enhance the care of critically ill patients, and has been named a Hexcite Fellow with the Johns Hopkins Technology Innovation Center. Dr. Hoops holds an undergraduate degree from Florida State University, a medical degree from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, and a Master of Public Health in Health Policy and Management from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
