Jukka Pekka Matinlinna

Jukka Pekka Matinlinna is a distinguished professor in Dental Materials Science and the Head of Unit at The University of Hong Kong. Originally from Finland, he began his academic journey at the University of Turku, where he worked under Professor Pekka Vallittu. After further research positions in the Netherlands and Norway, he joined HKU in October 2008. His research interests include dental materials and biomaterials, focusing on adhesive dentistry, silane chemistry applications, and the use of ceramic materials such as zirconia in dental technology. Prof. Matinlinna is also dedicated to dental education, having published the textbook Handbook of Oral Biomaterials in 2014. He currently serves as the Discipline Coordinator of Applied Oral Sciences and as the Postgraduate Programme Director at the Faculty of Dentistry. His contributions to the field are recognized internationally, making him a prominent figure in dental materials research and education.
