The University of Hong KongJukka Pekka Matinlinna is a renowned dental materials scientist who has made significant contributions to biomaterials research and dental education. Born and educated in Finland, he began his academic journey at the University of Turku, where he earned his BSc, MSc, CSc, and PhD degrees. After working in the Netherlands and Norway, he joined the University of Hong Kong as Professor of Dental Materials Science in 2008. His research focuses on dental materials and biomaterials, particularly in areas such as adhesive dentistry, silane chemistry applications, and ceramic materials including zirconia. His academic impact is reflected in his impressive publication record, with over 482 publications indexed in academic databases and an h-index of 58. Throughout his career, he has received numerous honors, including Fellowship in the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC) and the Academy of Dental Materials (FADM). Currently serving as Honorary Professor at the University of Hong Kong and working at the University of Manchester as a professor of applied dental sciences, he continues to influence the field through his research and educational contributions, including his authored textbook "Handbook of Oral Biomaterials" published in 2014.
