Juan Manuel Rodriguez-Poo holds a degree in Economics from the University of the Basque Country and a Ph.D. in Economics from the Catholic University of Louvain. Since November 2018, he has served as the president of the National Statistical Institute of Spain (INE), overseeing national statistics in Madrid. His academic career includes positions as an Associate Professor of Statistics at the University of the Basque Country and Associate Professor of Econometrics at Universidad de Cantabria, where he has been a Professor since 2003. Additionally, he has held leadership roles such as President of the Regional Institute of Statistics of Cantabria and Chairman of the Department of Economics at Universidad de Cantabria. Dr. Rodriguez-Poo's research primarily focuses on nonparametric and semiparametric estimation techniques in microeconometrics and finance, with particular interests in regression models, varying parameters, and panel data applications.
