Joe Warren

Dr. Joe Warren is a Professor in the Department of Computer Science at Rice University, where he has dedicated his career to the fields of computer graphics and geometric modeling. With extensive research contributions, he is the author of the book Subdivision Methods for Geometric Design and has published numerous papers on related topics. Dr. Warren is passionate about computer gaming, teaching both introductory game creation and advanced game design courses in collaboration with industry professionals in Houston. His academic journey began as an undergraduate at Rice from 1979 to 1983, followed by earning his Ph.D. from Cornell University in 1986. He has been a faculty member at Rice ever since, serving as the Chair of the Department from 2008 to 2013.In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Warren has played a significant role in developing online courses on platforms like Coursera, including "Algorithmic Thinking" and "An Introduction to Interactive Programming in Python."
