He earned his MS degree in electrical engineering from the University of Louvain, Belgium, in 1967, followed by a PhD in computer science from the Autonomous University of Barcelona, Spain, in 1983, and a second PhD in electrical engineering from the Polytechnic School of Lausanne, Switzerland, in 1984. Throughout his career, he has worked for companies like Philips and held academic positions in Belgium, Spain, and Argentina. Now retired, his last role was as a professor at the University Rovira i Virgili in Tarragona, Spain. His research interests span ASIC and FPGA design, digital arithmetic, and cryptography. He has authored nine books and more than a hundred international papers.
