The University of Hong KongJames Kit Hon Tsoi is a prominent dental materials scientist and innovator at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), where he serves as Associate Professor in Dental Materials Science and Assistant Dean (Innovation) at the Faculty of Dentistry. After completing his BSc in Applied and Analytical Chemistry and PhD in Dental Materials Science at HKU, he has established himself as a leading expert in dental materials research and digital dentistry innovation. His research portfolio spans dental materials science, biomaterials, digital dentistry, and artificial intelligence applications, with notable achievements including the development of novel AI-driven smart manufacturing techniques for dental prosthetics. His academic impact is reflected in his extensive publication record of over 115 peer-reviewed articles and the successful supervision of 34 MSc and 11 PhD students. He currently serves as President-elect of the IADR-Dental Materials Group, holds editorial board positions for several SCI journals including Dental Materials, and represents Hong Kong as head-of-delegate in ISO/TC 106 (Dentistry). His recent work has garnered significant funding, including HKD 8M+ in government grants for research in dental materials science and AI applications. Under his leadership, his team has pioneered breakthrough technologies in AI-designed dental crowns, contributing to the advancement of Industry 4.0 in dentistry.
