Dr. James DeNicco is the Director of the Principles of Economics Program and a Senior Lecturer at Rice University, where he has passionately taught economics since 2010. With a Ph.D. in Economics from Drexel University, his expertise lies primarily in Macroeconomics and Industrial Organization. Dr. DeNicco's engaging teaching style has earned him numerous accolades, including the Malcolm Gillis Award for Distinction in Undergraduate Teaching and the George R. Brown Award for Superior Teaching, reflecting his commitment to student success and learning. He teaches approximately 700 students annually in introductory economics courses and also contributes to graduate programs in Global Affairs and Social Policy Evaluation. Beyond his classroom contributions, Dr. DeNicco actively fosters community through initiatives like Baker College traditions and serves as a Divisional Advisor, helping new students navigate their academic paths.
