Indranil Gupta, commonly known as Indy, is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he leads the Distributed Protocols Research Group. With a PhD from Cornell University obtained in 2004 and a bachelor's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras in 1998, he has developed a robust expertise in large-scale distributed systems, including datacenters and cloud computing infrastructures. His recent industry experience includes a year at Google and internships at Microsoft Research and IBM Research.Professor Gupta's research focuses on enhancing the programmability and dynamism of computing and network infrastructures through technologies such as virtualization and software-defined networking. He has served as program co-chair for several leading conferences in distributed systems and has received multiple accolades, including the NSF CAREER award in 2005.
