Delft University of TechnologyHenri Werij serves as Dean of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering at TU Delft, where he champions the transition to sustainable aviation. After earning his MSc and PhD with honors in experimental physics and quantum optics from Leiden University in 1988, he conducted postdoctoral research at JILA in Boulder, Colorado, and the University of Amsterdam. His career at TNO from 1993 culminated in his role as Director of Space and Scientific Instrumentation before joining TU Delft in 2017. Under his leadership, TU Delft has accelerated its commitment to climate-neutral aviation, establishing key partnerships including the Flying Vision Agreement with Airbus, KLM, Schiphol, and NLR. His tenure has seen significant growth in faculty diversity, with female representation increasing from 14% to 23%. He oversees a department of 124 professors and nearly 400 researchers, focusing on educating future generations in sustainable aerospace technologies. His scientific contributions include over 25 peer-reviewed publications, and he maintains active involvement in scientific advancement through his membership in ARCNL and DIFFER.
