Helen A. “Nellie” Drew is a Professor of Practice in Sports Law at The State University of New York and the Director of the Center for the Advancement of Sport at the University at Buffalo. With extensive expertise in various aspects of sports law, her research and teaching cover topics such as NCAA compliance, Title IX issues, drug testing in professional sports, and player contract negotiation and arbitration. Dr. Drew is particularly interested in the evolving research and litigation surrounding concussions in both amateur and professional sports.In addition to her academic roles, Dr. Drew has significant practical experience in the sports industry, having negotiated contracts for notable NHL players and participated in various legal transactions within the league. She teaches several courses on Coursera, including "Analytics, Law, and Athlete Representation" and "Data Analytics in Sports Law and Team Management," where she integrates her legal expertise with data-driven decision-making in sports management.
