Emily Welsh

Emily Welsh serves as an Educational Technologist in MIT's Department of Mechanical Engineering, where she combines her engineering background with educational innovation. After earning her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University, she worked as a Sustaining Engineer for an original equipment manufacturer before transitioning to educational technology. As Program Manager for the Principles of Manufacturing MicroMasters program, she develops teaching innovations for online manufacturing courses. Her expertise spans manufacturing equipment, augmented reality and virtual reality learning applications, and digital education research. Her excellence has been recognized through an Infinite Mile Award for supporting remote education kit logistics. Her research interests include 3D printing, design for manufacturing, and applying technology to improve people's lives, while her work focuses on developing digital education tools and assisting MIT faculty with online course development.
