Emily Macedo

Emily Macedo serves as Professional Development Facilitator at UBC Geering Up Engineering Outreach, where she helps educators integrate STEAM activities into their classrooms. Drawing from five years of teaching experience in Ontario with grades 4-5 students, she brings a diverse background in science, art, physical education, and special education. As a bilingual educator, she specializes in developing and delivering professional development programs that reflect current educational needs and prepare teachers for modern classroom challenges. At Geering Up, she focuses on building teacher confidence in implementing STEM activities through project-based and inquiry-based learning approaches. Her work includes creating professional development resources that help teachers integrate innovative STEAM activities into their curriculum while maintaining engagement and accessibility for all students. Through her role on the professional development team, she continues to advance Geering Up's mission of making STEM education more engaging and accessible while supporting educators in creating future-facing learning environments.
