Elena Valderrama

Born in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain, she holds a PhD in Physics and a Degree in Medicine from the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), where she is currently a Professor in the Microelectronics Department at the Engineering School. From 1980 to 1998, she served as an Adscript Researcher at the National Centre for Microelectronics, part of the Spanish Superior Board for Scientific Research (CSIC), leading projects centered on the design and integration of highly complex digital systems (VLSI). Her current interests lie in education, focusing on both teaching and the management and quality assurance of engineering-related educational programs. Her research is primarily directed toward the biomedical applications of microelectronics.
