The Hong Kong Polytechnic UniversityDr. Xue Bai serves as Professor at the Department of Applied Social Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, where she directs the Research Centre for Gerontology and Family Studies (formerly Institute of Active Ageing) and leads the BA programme in Applied Ageing Studies and Service Management. Her research focuses on three key areas: intergenerational relationships and care arrangements in aging families, active aging and subjective well-being in later life, and social policy and care in aging societies. Her significant contributions to the field include securing over HK$25 million in external funding for aging-related research and programs, developing life-long learning courses, and implementing intergenerational activities that enhance older adults' health and life satisfaction. As an appointed member of the Social Welfare Advisory Committee and Elderly Commission, she advises the Hong Kong government on aging and social welfare policy matters while serving as a non-executive Director on the Board of Directors of HKMC Annuity Limited. Her work has been widely published in prestigious journals including The Gerontologist, Ageing & Mental Health, and BMC Geriatrics, establishing her as a leading voice in gerontological research and policy development.
