Dr. Walter Hurley, PhD

Dr. Walter Hurley is a Professor Emeritus in Animal Sciences at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he has made significant contributions to the field of lactation and mammary gland biology, particularly in dairy cattle and swine. He earned his B.S. and M.S. in Dairy Science from the University of Maryland and his Ph.D. in Animal Science from the University of Kentucky, followed by postdoctoral research at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. With over 100 scholarly articles and book chapters to his credit, Dr. Hurley has taught Lactation Biology for over 30 years, earning numerous teaching awards for his innovative approach and excellence in education. His accolades include the Land O'Lakes/Purina Teaching Award from the American Dairy Science Association and multiple College and campus teaching excellence awards.
